Market Recap - D-Day 75th anniversary

Celebrations for the 6th of May 1944 Normandy landings, are happening today in Portsmouth with the presence of President Trump and the Queen of the UK.

Chinese President Xi visits Russian President Putin. They intend to sign a declaration of cooperation to address strategic challenges such as the US-China trade tensions, and US sanctions against Russia. President Xi will also attend the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The European Commission could decide today on the possibility of triggering a disciplinary procedure against Italy (€3.5 bn fine) for failing to meet fiscal goals.

With the exception of the Chinese index, Equities have recorded significant gains and US government yields had slightly picked up. S&P 500 is now trading above its 200 Day Moving Average. Dow Jones is testing its 200 Day Moving Average today.

Macro releases: Yesterday’s release of the European inflation, that is falling, is favoring a dovish tone at tomorrow’s press conference of the ECB. Today the focus is on the service PMI readings of the EU, the UK and the USA.
