Second week in a row with no significant event scheduled in the calendar. Hong Kong, Ukraine-Russia relations, impeachment developments, US-China negotiations will continue to be in the spotlight.
Yesterday’s district elections in Hong Kong was a major defeat for pro-China candidates that secured less than 10% of the district council seats. The participation has been doubled since the last elections and stood at 71%. It may be true that these elections only control 117 votes in a 1200 member committee that chooses Hong Kong’s Chief executive, but the picture has dramatically and officially changed. Pro-democracy party won 388 seats from 100 seats in 2015.
