Market Recap – Arab League

As the Conservative Party is on the course to win the December 12 elections in the UK, it makes sense to look at their 2019 Manifesto. Key points:  Leave the EU in January, aggressive hiring in the health sector, tighter immigration controls, no income tax increase, no national insurance increase, no VAT rise, £6.3bn budget for home upgrading, zero-emissions economy by 2050.

Demonstrations are scheduled by German farmers in Berlin. The chances are rising for the Catalan Party supporting the Socialists-Podemos coalition in Spain.

The Arab League has formally rejected the November 18 US decision to declare that Israel’s settlements in Palestinian territory are legal. Russia and Turkey have already expressed their disapproval.

Alibaba’s second listing in Hong Kong (first listing happened in 2014 in the US) was successful.

Macro releases : Today’s economic calendar includes the US New Home Sales,  the US Consumer Confidence and the New Zealand Trade Balance. Yesterday’s New Zealand retail sales were impressive, and financial market participants sent the NZD higher
