Spain is having general elections for the fourth time in four years, as no party is able to win parliamentary majority and no coalition government is formed. The same deadlock scenario could easily be repeated.

President Xi Jinping will visit Greece during the weekend, as the Greek government agreed with the new planned 670million investments of Cosco. At the beginning of the week, there were some hopes that Greece could become the location of the signing of the US-China phase 1 trade agreement. This scenario is now off the table, even though optimism prevailed while a Chinese Commerce Department Spokesperson said that there is an agreement of rolling back tariffs as part of phase 1 deal.

Macro releases: Today’s most important economic releases have already been published. Both the German and the Chinese trade balance increased. The Japanese increased household spending at the period before the increase of the consumption tax, should be regarded as an outlier and not as an increasing trend. The decreased Australian home loans is problematic. Remember that the evolution of the construction cycle is one of the biggest uncertainties that the Australian economy is currently dealing with.
